The Victoria ISD Fine Arts department is getting ready to kick off a fundraising campaign to purchase new uniforms for the East and West High School bands. Both schools opened in 2010, with new marching band uniforms purchased at that time. Because those uniforms have now been extended past the typical lifespan of marching band uniforms, it is more cost effective to replace all of the uniforms at the same time, rather than add a few new uniforms to the set that is already aged and worn out.
The total cost to purchase new uniforms for both high school bands is $200,000. Victoria ISD will contribute $100,000 toward the new uniforms, with the remaining funds being raised through students and the community.
Next year, our bands will be eligible to compete at the 5A State Marching Band competition. The new uniforms will have our musicians looking sharp while showing off their pride and hard work on the field.
If donors would like to write a check, they can make checks payable to VISD with “Band Uniforms” in the memo and mail to the Fine Arts Center (1002 Sam Houston Dr, Victoria, TX 77901) attention Jason Levin.
